Hydrocele

asd2Hydrocele is the accumulation of excessive fluid around the testicles and its swelling. Normally, there is 0.5-1.0 ml water, in hydrocele it may increase up to 200-300 ml. There are two types depending on the origin:

Primary hydrocele - occurred without a cause

Secondary hydrocele - occurs during inflammation of the testicles and surrounding tissues, after trauma etc.

Simple hydrocele - single-sided, without change in the size, painless, tensioned, cause is unknown

Symptomatic hydrocele - Mainly occurs because of a pathology. Occurs after acute epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis) and acute orchitis (inflammation of one or both of the testicles). Hydrocele occurs in 10-15% of the testicle swellings. Mostly common in newborns. During development of the fetus in the uterus, a canal is formed that goes from the abdomen to the testicle and when this channel reaches the scrotum connection with the abdomen is lost. Sometimes this canal is not closed and causes fluid flow to the scrotum from the abdomen. This is called hydrocele.

Symptoms of hydrocele

hidrosel.Usually without acute pain, there is some feeling of weight; scrotum is swollen due to excessive fluid accumulated inside. It is easily diagnosed and clinical course is positive. If lasts for a long time, it may cause discomfort in walking and worry because of esthetic appearance. For diagnosis, it is enough to see swelling in the scrotum and make an US examination.

Treatment

Hydrocele is found couple of months after the birth and self-absorbed. For this reason, it is not recommended to operate in the first year after birth. Before, it was used to collect the fluid with a syringe, but it is not a treatment as after some time the fluid comes back. The only treatment is surgical, which is quite simple, comfortable and short. Efficiency is 100%. It is attributed to the light operations group. It is recommended to put ice on the testicles for 24 hours after the operation.
